Casters for Furniture

Whether you’re reorganizing your living room, moving office equipment or transporting a new piece of furniture around your workplace, furniture castors make it easier to move any object. They come in a huge variety of styles, sizes and materials with different swiveling, braking and locking options to choose from.

Type and Weight

Before you can purchase a set of furniture castors , you must first know the maximum weight of the piece of furniture you’ll be attaching them to. This will help you determine the best casters to purchase and avoid buying the wrong type or size.

Material

Depending on the area where the casters will be used, you should select a material that will roll smoothly over carpet and other floor types. For example, rubber casters will roll over most types of flooring without damaging them.

Transform Your Furniture with Small Wheels: Creative DIY Ideas and Inspiration

Casters for furniture can be attached to the bottom of legs or to a solid surface like a box or platform. They are available in stem mount and plate mount styles, each with a fixed wheel or swiveling option. Braking

Most casters for office chairs have a brake built into them to slow them down when they’re under pressure, making it easier to move the chair quickly. Some casters also offer charge-braked or interval-braked options, which slow the casters down until pressure is applied and then lock in place again when no further force is applied. This feature, which is required by EN 12529, is a safety measure that prevents people from pushing their chairs backwards when they get up from them.
